The Fresno State Bulldogs are well on their way towards playing on their new FieldTurf Revolution high performance playing field. The installation of the FieldTurf artificial grass at Bulldog Stadium that begun earlier this month is scheduled to be completed in the coming weeks. The decision to move away from grass, a surface the team has played on since the venue opened in 1980, was made after the school looked at the innovative FieldTurf Revolution system.
The Revolution fiber is the result of innovative science, engineering and technology that provides a soft, strong monofilament fiber with extraordinary durability and longevity.
"We have played on a lot of artificial turf fields and have always preferred FieldTurf. Our players love the University of Oregon's field and we are excited to be getting the same thing,” said Fresno State Head Football Coach Pat Hill. “After extensive research and experience playing on turf, we feel FieldTurf Revolution is the absolute best surface available and can't wait to have it at Bulldog Stadium."
“When we saw FieldTurf’s latest technology, we knew it was something special and something we had to pursue,” said Fresno State Associate Athletics Director, John Kriebs. “We conducted thorough and in-depth research on artificial turf systems in the industry – comparing everything from turf fiber durability to performance to the safety of these turf systems. This represents a first-class surface for all of our Fresno State student- athletes.”
The list of major universities who play their home games on FieldTurf includes Nebraska, Washington, Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State, West Virginia, Kansas State, Illinois, Illinois State, Missouri, Texas, Texas Tech, Iowa, Boston College, Rutgers, Syracuse, Cincinnati and Louisville. Twenty-one of the NFL's 32 teams have chosen FieldTurf in their stadiums and/or practice facilities.
