Wake Forest University - Groves Stadium

We had options. It was either trying to spend a ton of money to irrigate and layer soil systems and all that kind of stuff to get a better field, or to go with the FieldTurf. We've had two years on our FieldTurf here and the players love it.

We have practiced on it (FieldTurf) for two years, so we could make sure really like it. It eliminates a headache. When you're a Bermuda (grass) team and it goes dormant in October. Well, I did a couple of clinics and showed films of our games, and our field is brown. You never have to worry about the weather, the color of the field, maintenance or how it looks at the end of the year. No ruts, no holes, no divots.

I think our kids just flat-out love our new stadium turf. I think they look forward to playing on it. The nice thing is you can go to bed on Friday night as a coach and never worry about anything. You don't worry about rainstorms, weather, nothing. You know you're going to have a great surface to play on the next day. I know our players have fallen in love with it.
