Which FieldTurf system is right for me?

Each FieldTurf system is designed for specific usage. Whether it be a multi-sport field, a baseball field, a soccer pitch, or a football field, we have products that are tailored to your needs. Contact your local FieldTurf representative to find out which system is right for you.

How much will FieldTurf cost for an average-sized athletic field?

The turf and installation will cost approximately $5 per square foot. The base work, comprised of excavation, preparation, engineering, and drainage, will typically cost around $4 per square foot. Depending on site specific variables and field size, the total cost can run anywhere from $700,000 – $800,000.

Can FieldTurf design and manage my project from start to finish?

Certainly. FieldTurf has completed thousands of projects where clients have asked for design and build services. Local firms are sometimes unfamiliar with designing artificial turf bases and drainage systems. This can lead to a learning curve for clients that result in delays and additional expenses. FieldTurf has developed a large technical infrastructure because we’ve been approached so often to help design projects, offer advice, and undertake complicated calculations related to storm water management and more. Advantages of sourcing FieldTurf for design and build include:

  • Turn-key solutions from conception to completion
  • Higher quality control
  • “Gross maximum” pricing for no surprises
  • 12% reduction in construction time
  • 33% faster overall project completion

What is a FieldTurf system’s life expectancy?

A properly maintained FieldTurf synthetic turf system is expected to last 8-10 years with normal usage and adherence to guidelines. FieldTurf has hundreds of fields that are older than 10 years.

Do you own and operate your own manufacturing facility?

Yes. Since the very beginning, FieldTurf identified that being able to control the quality of its products from start to finish is the only way that customers will truly benefit from the safety and durability of our synthetic turf systems. FieldTurf is the most vertically-integrated company in the industry.

How many repeat customers do you have?

We have hundreds of repeat customers and the best record for customer satisfaction in the industry.

Has long-term independent safety testing been done on your product(s)?

Absolutely. The FieldTurf system is the safest turf on Earth. In a 5-year independent safety study done at the high school football level, it was concluded that FieldTurf contributes to 55% fewer neural injuries, 47% fewer cranial/cervical injuries, 45% less time lost to injury (long-term), 38% fewer 3rd degree injuries, and 35% less time lost to injuries (short-term). For more information on FieldTurf safety, see The Safest Turf on Earth.

Does FieldTurf offer a maintenance program clients can subscribe to?

Yes - the only one of its kind in the industry. The national FieldTurf FieldCare program is comprised of complete field inspections and regular maintenance done only by FieldTurf authorized professionals. Each visit to your site will include a full printed report detailing the condition of all aspects of the field. It will keep you up to date and locate any issues before they can potentially become a problem.

What design components in your product were created to ensure efficient drainage?

Our success as an all-weather artificial turf system is due largely in part to the permeability of our backing and the quality of the base upon which the FieldTurf field is installed. Our backing is naturally 40% porous thanks to our patented 'finger-unit' coating method.

How many synthetic turf installations has FieldTurf completed?

Over 3,500 full-sized sports fields and counting!

Are your installers certified?

Yes. The installation is just as important as the quality of the product. Without an experienced and qualified crew, the field is almost guaranteed to fail.  Recognizing this, we established our own certified in-house installation crews. By incorporating licensed crews who have experience with our product, we are able to assure you that only the most qualified professionals handle your installation.

What environmental benefits do your products have?

Every year, our 3,500+ fields save anywhere between 600,000 and 1 million gallons of gasoline by reducing the need for mowing and significantly reducing maintenance. In addition, since FieldTurf requires no water, it saves clean drinking water and taxpayer money. So far, our fields have saved an astonishing 24 billion gallons of water.  Read more about our commitment to the environment.

Does FieldTurf contribute to LEED credits?

FieldTurf contributes towards Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) credits. FieldTurf’s synthetic turf systems for athletic fields are designed to meet stringent criteria required to potentially earn points under categories of LEED. Based on these criteria, our products can assist clients, architects, and designers in obtaining LEED certification at all levels. Download this brochure for more details.

Does FieldTurf offer an insured warranty?

The security that comes with every FieldTurf field is the result of Research and Development, elaborate in-house quality control and our dedication to complete customer satisfaction. Do you have any FIFA Recommended installations?

Yes, we have many FIFA recommended installations around the world. In fact, FieldTurf was the very first artificial surface to attain FIFA Recommended status due to its superior grass-like performance, which soccer players prefer. See our FIFA recommended installations.

What are the best types of shoes to wear on FieldTurf?

The best types of shoes are molded cleats or screw-ins (maximum recommended is ½”). The footwear designated for natural grass is easily transferable to use on FieldTurf synthetic turf systems. While use of long steel jagged cleats on FieldTurf will not void the warranty, they are not recommended.  Limited use is allowable. Metal and aluminum rounded molded cleats are acceptable. It is important to note that flat-soled shoes do not result in ultimate athlete performance.

Can Track and Field events such as Discus, Javelin and Shotput be held on my field?

The use of the Discus, Shot-Put, Javelin and Hammer will not void the warranty. However, to avoid any damage to the FieldTurf surface, the following guidelines must be implemented:

  • The FieldTurf surface should be covered with a piece of nylon covering so that the FieldTurf surface is not damaged in any way. Any non-infilled piece of FieldTurf also works very well.
  • The landing space should be rotated to avoid over use in a concentrated area.
  • Grooming of the infill after each event should be done to ensure that the infill is redistributed properly.
  • The Javelin must be equipped with a rubber tip to avoid damage to the FieldTurf system.
