The upcoming season will have more football played on FieldTurf nationwide than ever before. This is especially true for the Southwestern region of the U.S. – the football hub of America – where FieldTurf is the surface of choice for schools wanting the most proven turf system in the world.
The Texas State University Bobcats have selected FieldTurf for the turf replacement project at Bobcat Stadium. The FieldTurf Duraspine PRO turf system and its patented sand and rubber infill will replace the all-rubber surface that was previously on Jim Wacker Field.
The decision to upgrade to FieldTurf Duraspine PRO from the previous Astroplay surface was an easy one, according to the Bobcat administration.
“When we set out to replace our field, safety, best value, and strength of the insured warranty were three of the most important factors we were looking at when comparing vendors,” said Larry Teis, TSU’s Athletic Director. “We took the time and traveled throughout the State of Texas looking at different stadiums, and when it was all said and done, we chose FieldTurf. We are extremely proud to have the latest in artificial turf innovation installed at Bobcat Stadium.”
Reed Richard, the Maintenance and Operations Director at Port Arthur Independent School District, agreed with Teis. “When we lined up all our options, it was clear that FieldTurf was the product for us. Safety was our number one priority and the Duraspine Pro’s features, along with the industry-best warranty sealed the deal.” The field was completed in May and will soon be officially inaugurated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The City of San Antonio will be boasting two brand new fields of its own by the end of this summer. Central Catholic High School and Harlandale ISD’s Memorial Stadium are both set to have their fields installed before the beginning of the football season.
One of the nation’s most illustrious high school football programs has also opted for FieldTurf’s high-performance surface. Tulsa Union Football is set to have their Duraspine PRO field installed at Tuttle Stadium, where the new quest for a national championship is undoubtedly set to begin once again.
Putnam City High School, in Oklahoma, first installed FieldTurf at the school’s stadium in 2001. After nine seasons of benefitting from the world’s most durable turf system, Putnam City High School opted to revamp its surface. They were so satisfied with the performance of the FieldTurf Classic product that they have decided to renew with the same turf system this time around. Putnam City Schools currently has four FieldTurf fields in their district.
Fort Bend Baptist Academy in Sugarland, TX, opted for FieldTurf to replace the natural grass fields which simply could not withstand the use of its football and soccer teams. The new turf field is currently being installed and the Academy will soon be able to double and possibly triple the use of the field for all of their teams, while maintaining a consistent, well-condition surface.
Fort Bend is not the only organization to showcase other sports than football on their new field. A plethora of new FieldTurf fields in the Southern U.S. will be used for soccer, lacrosse, and baseball.
Most notably, the Houston Dynamo, two-time MLS Cup Champions, will be training on a new FieldTurf soccer field installed by the City of Houston. The construction of this field was made possible primarily due to a grant obtained from the Footprint Fields Grant Program. The program is spearheaded by the U.S. Soccer Foundation and features a partnership with adidas, MLS W.O.R.K.S., and FieldTurf. The surface will also serve as a game field for youth and adult soccer leagues in the city.
Whether it is in Texas, in surrounding states, or anywhere in America, FieldTurf is the most trusted name in artificial turf. Some of the most notable installations the company has installed include DKR Memorial Stadium and Disch Falk Stadium at the University of Texas, four fields at Texas Tech University, along with fields for Texas Christian University, Texas A&M, University of Tulsa, Tulane University and the Houston Texans.
With 4000 installations worldwide, FieldTurf’s proven safety and performance has made it the surface of choice for sports at all levels.
